Today I read a really great poem from Jimmy Santiago Baca named "Immigrants in Our Own Land". To me he put so much feeling into like I could feel what he is feeling. It also makes me think about how other people feel when they go through the same thing.

Theme: It is about how we all have our own goal but sometimes we don't make. We go through the hard times once when we come out of those hard times we don't know what to do.
Tone (the author's attitude towards that story): i am not sure
Mood (The emotions that provoke the reader): I think the mood in the poem is kinda sad
Devices: i don't really know what kind of devices he use

My Mad Dream Of An Essay Part One

Remember that time you ate that spicy taco just before you went to bed on the night before the big reopening of the Charlie's Chocolate Factory?  Oh, that weird dream you had about the 2016 presidential election.  When you woke up you couldn't quite remember the scary details, but after reading "On Self-Reliance" and "A Sound of Thunder" it's all coming back to you now.

The dream started badly.  You were in line with your family at a restaurant waiting to be sent to  Hometown Buffet. Everywhere you looked there were posters of president-elect Jasper, looking like a crazy monkey who could eat a whole Paris

Suddenly, there was Ralph Waldo Emerson telling you, "What I must do is all  that concerns me, not what the people think."  You realized that you have something to contribute to the world so you decided to dancing.  But it wasn't easy.  First you had to put on a fancy tie and suit and then you had make a snake to go back in time to the library so you could convince people to learn about the candidates and the immigration.

But right there in the library there was a giant clown and it started picking at everyone.  People started to run.  You grabbed a pickle from a nearby Mickey and yelled "Say hello to my pickle" .  Everyone stopped and listened, so you kept going.

An Earth Shattering Fart

Okay so today I read "A Sound of Thunder" I didn't really understand what was going on in the beginning of the story. But I kinda got what was going on later on in the story I got to the part of when Travis is explaining why they don't belong in the past. Also how they can effect the whole animal species by just killing one little mice. However can someone please care to explain what was going on in the beginning of the story please.

Emerson's Child

For me to explain the main points what Emerson is trying to say "On Self-Reliance" to a ten year old would be kinda hard. However I would tell them that it's mainly about being your own person. Also you have to rely on your nature instincts or yourself. Before watches and clocks were invented people actually able to look where the sun is at and tell what time it is. That is pretty cool. Other then relying on yourself and instincts stick to what you believe in because everyone has there own opinions on anything but you shouldn't change what you believe in. Also you doesn't have to do what everyone does. Being different its okay. Now in today's world there is many people copying things from other people. For example dabbing, the manikin challenge, the whip and all of the other popular challenges/ dances that's been going on for quite a while. They are fun but you can make something your own then doing what everybody is doing. That is how I would tell a ten year old I probably may not may not make very much sense but hopefully you are able to understand in some sort.
I wasn't able to finish my essay over the weekend. However I will post it today when I get home from school.

EMERSON FOR THE YOUNG BUCK

The is a essay call "On Self-Reliance" it's one of the longest essays I have ever seen in my whole life time. I didn't even think a essay could be that long luckily it isn't as big as me because I am pretty short for my age. Anyways in that long essay I believe that it's about have you should just be yourself don't just be like someone else. That's what think he is trying to say because he talked about how the media keeps us from being our self  because we can be too scared to speck out and thinking if someone is going to judge them.
