Today I read a really great poem from Jimmy Santiago Baca named "Immigrants in Our Own Land". To me he put so much feeling into like I could feel what he is feeling. It also makes me think about how other people feel when they go through the same thing.

Theme: It is about how we all have our own goal but sometimes we don't make. We go through the hard times once when we come out of those hard times we don't know what to do.
Tone (the author's attitude towards that story): i am not sure
Mood (The emotions that provoke the reader): I think the mood in the poem is kinda sad
Devices: i don't really know what kind of devices he use

My Mad Dream Of An Essay Part One

Remember that time you ate that spicy taco just before you went to bed on the night before the big reopening of the Charlie's Chocolate Factory?  Oh, that weird dream you had about the 2016 presidential election.  When you woke up you couldn't quite remember the scary details, but after reading "On Self-Reliance" and "A Sound of Thunder" it's all coming back to you now.

The dream started badly.  You were in line with your family at a restaurant waiting to be sent to  Hometown Buffet. Everywhere you looked there were posters of president-elect Jasper, looking like a crazy monkey who could eat a whole Paris

Suddenly, there was Ralph Waldo Emerson telling you, "What I must do is all  that concerns me, not what the people think."  You realized that you have something to contribute to the world so you decided to dancing.  But it wasn't easy.  First you had to put on a fancy tie and suit and then you had make a snake to go back in time to the library so you could convince people to learn about the candidates and the immigration.

But right there in the library there was a giant clown and it started picking at everyone.  People started to run.  You grabbed a pickle from a nearby Mickey and yelled "Say hello to my pickle" .  Everyone stopped and listened, so you kept going.

An Earth Shattering Fart

Okay so today I read "A Sound of Thunder" I didn't really understand what was going on in the beginning of the story. But I kinda got what was going on later on in the story I got to the part of when Travis is explaining why they don't belong in the past. Also how they can effect the whole animal species by just killing one little mice. However can someone please care to explain what was going on in the beginning of the story please.

Emerson's Child

For me to explain the main points what Emerson is trying to say "On Self-Reliance" to a ten year old would be kinda hard. However I would tell them that it's mainly about being your own person. Also you have to rely on your nature instincts or yourself. Before watches and clocks were invented people actually able to look where the sun is at and tell what time it is. That is pretty cool. Other then relying on yourself and instincts stick to what you believe in because everyone has there own opinions on anything but you shouldn't change what you believe in. Also you doesn't have to do what everyone does. Being different its okay. Now in today's world there is many people copying things from other people. For example dabbing, the manikin challenge, the whip and all of the other popular challenges/ dances that's been going on for quite a while. They are fun but you can make something your own then doing what everybody is doing. That is how I would tell a ten year old I probably may not may not make very much sense but hopefully you are able to understand in some sort.
I wasn't able to finish my essay over the weekend. However I will post it today when I get home from school.

EMERSON FOR THE YOUNG BUCK

The is a essay call "On Self-Reliance" it's one of the longest essays I have ever seen in my whole life time. I didn't even think a essay could be that long luckily it isn't as big as me because I am pretty short for my age. Anyways in that long essay I believe that it's about have you should just be yourself don't just be like someone else. That's what think he is trying to say because he talked about how the media keeps us from being our self  because we can be too scared to speck out and thinking if someone is going to judge them.

Okay I am going to be really honest here. Today durning class I was reading "Self-Reliance" and I couldn't  concentrate when it comes to reading I don't really focus as much. It happens when I am reading it by myself it gets boring and that's when I lose foucs too. I could pay attention more on audio books but I just need to be interested in the book I usually like books that tells about someone's really sad life just like "The Book Theif" or some scary books. But, I would read the books by myself if I really like the book.

My American Voice

In my opinion I believe that I can be a shy person time to time. When it come to speaking up I have to know if it's worth saying something because why would tell someone something if they are just going to tell me things that they don't even know. I rather be the bigger person and ignore what they are saying to me and if they are being rude to the other person I will do my best to get them out of it. But, I will also think what i am going to say to the other person. i want them to understand what is coming out of my mouth so my words could go through the person's head and hear what I have to say to them. What would you do?

Respect My Authority

Sometimes I look up to the people who has more power than me, because they could support me into doing stuff that I stuff that I didn't think i could do. For example last year I was in art one and there is this new class called AP art studio I wasn't sure if I join it because I didn't think I was a very good artist. But, my art  teacher encouraged me to join that class and I look up to her because she is super nice, great at art and funny too. If it wasn't for her I would't  even try it.

Today I  received my essay graded and I got a B- I am so happy with my grade but next time I will try even harder to get an A.

Literature Analysis Questions #1

1. The novel I read is "Out of the Dust". It is about a little girl named Billie Joe. Before she was born her father wanted a boy instead of a girl. So, he taught and named her like a boy until she was turning nine years old her father stopped trying to pretend that she is a boy. The story takes place during the Great Depression. The character Billie Joe loved playing piano, she is very tall and thin as paper with blond hair. Later on in the story her mother passes away and her new born brother. Her mother died because hot oil spelled on her and her baby brother died for the same reason too. At the time that her mom was burn she burn her hands trying to throw away the oil. At the moment she couldn't play the piano anymore. That's the part I am at and I will read more and keep you updated.

2. I am not very sure what is the theme yet but I will post what I believe the theme is

3. But, when I read the book I think that the author was born or had a family that was in the Great Depression. Also listens to classical music and I could believe she know how to play the piano.

4. I honestly honestly don't know what are the literary terms in the novel but once as I find out it will be in the post as well.

My Responds to Richard Cory

It was an interesting poem because it was about a man name Richard Cory. He had everything such as clothing, house, education basically rich. Everyone wanted to be him I would want to be him too because he had everything. But, it doesn't mean he was the happiest man in the poem said that he killed himself with a shotgun on his head. The poem had so much meaning he just committed suicide. Probably the reason is he felt lonely there could be many reasons why he did that even though he had everything and everyone wanted to be him. Maybe money isn't always happiest.

The Conscience of the Hacker

Today durning class I read a essay call "The Conscience of the Hacker". When I saw it for the first time I was wondering why does it look weird? Once as I started to read the story it made some sense to me why it look weird. I believe it goes with the story because it is about hackers and I am guessing that's how it would look if you are hacking the computer. I thought it was pretty cool that the author made it that way. As for the story it was quite interesting. He talked about a hacker getting arrested and he was call a criminal. To me the character seem angry for the people who thinks that who is a hacker is a criminal. Also I notice that he kept on saying that everyone is the same. That is basically what I understand and notice from the essay.

Young Goodman Brown

I sort of read some of the story. My first impression of it was how in the world am I going to read the whole story. So, I read a little bit of it because I wouldn't have enough time. While I was reading I couldn't really understand what the two characters because they were talking in old English I am guessing old English. Anyways I just mainly understood is that Goodman brown had to leave his wife named Faith. He went on a journey that I didn't know where he is going exactly. That is what all I got from reading some of the story. I am sorry that I didn't read all of it.

What's your Big Question?

I have many and many questions that hasn't been answered because everyday I always have a new one even if it's a dumb question. Sometimes I would have questions for the smallest things like "How did people clean their teeth before toothbrush was invented?" But, my biggest question I have is why are people so curious?

Ancient Stories

In the story that we had to read for the class as what our teacher Dr. Preston pointed out that the author wrote small sentences. Once when he said that I did notice that. Then near at the of class he asked us two questions for homework first how is the language in the story is different or similar the way we speck at school and how important is it to repeat a story word for word? It got me thinking the way I talk to my friends or the way they talk to me, because I sometimes talk in short sentences but thats the only thing I could of think that was the same. On the other hand when I write or type I intend to have one long sentence and that is something that is different to me from the story. As for the second I believe it is important to repeat a story word for word because you won't leave any detail left behind. For that reason I believe when people make their own versions they will change a little and it will continue to change through out each people and it may not be the same as the original. Well that is my answers for those two question.
